Sant'Antonio Abate is known as the saint patron of animals and the blessing of the animals occurs every year.

In the occasion of the festivity of the Madonna dell’Assunta there is a series of events that takes place in Monteleone, such as the ceremony of the offering of a "doppiero (Candle) of 20 pounds" to the Church of St. Francis for the traditional celebration, the historical Renaissance parade and the challenge among the Terzieri San Giacomo, San Nicola and Santa Maria with shooting of the bow / tug of war / tug of wagon / race of the segone (saw).

The event was conceived in the 80s, to enhance a typical dish of Monteleone: the Strascinati – a mixture of flour, water and salt, a sort of hand-made spaghetti.


Spelt of San Nicola

The ritual of the "Spelt of San Nicola" is held on December 5th, the eve of the anniversary of the Saint, patron of the country, to commemorate the miracle that tradition attributes to San Nicola who, passing through Monteleone and shocked by the poverty of its inhabitants, decided to give the poor the spelt. The permanence of this unique ritual has favored the continuity of its culture in Monteleone, much to become a characteristic feature of this area.


The Great Fire

This tradition is deeply felt in Monteleone di Spoleto, and takes place every year since ages. The ritual involves the whole country that, around the fire blessed by the parish priest, lingers in joy among the sounds of the band and the songs of the Choral. With traditional food and drink, the community seems to renew a brotherhood, common purposes and objectives to reach together.
